EU, AL call on all democratic forces of Iraq to work together to face terrorism

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Arab League and European Union express their deep concern about the deteriorating security situation in Iraq, especially in the city of ??Mosul and condemn the recent terrorist attacks that caused many victims and the displacement of thousands from their homes.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Iraqi News cited “At this difficult moment for Iraq, the countries of the EU and AL call on all democratic forces of Iraq to work together and according to the Iraqi Constitution to overcome this security challenge and to respect the will of the Iraqi citizens to set a government in accordance with the democratic process.”

“The AL and EU call on the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government to cooperate and join their political and military powers and work together in order to restore security in Mosul and Nineveh province, and ask all democratic forces in the community to support these steps,” the statement added.

“The EU and AL confirm their firm commitment to Iraq’s unity and territorial integrity for the importance of Iraq’s stability for the development of the country and the region. The EU and al also remind all states of the need to apply and implement the UN resolutions 1267 and 1989 on the imposition of sanctions on the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant,” the statement concluded.
