Extraordinary parliamentary session over speaker’s resignation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi parliament will hold an extraodrinary session on Tuesday afternoon over the resignation of its speaker, Mahmoud al-Mashahadani, according to a parliamentary media source. “The session will be headed by Mashahadani himself,” the source told IraqiNews.com. Earlier, lawmaker Mahmoud Othman, a senior figure in the Kurdistan Alliance (KA), said that it will boycott parliamentary sessions presided over by Mashahadani, reiterating his bloc’s demands to replace the speaker of Iraq’s council of representatives.
