Feminist organizations urge probe into pilot’s escape

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: A number of feminist organizations and unions in Iraq’s Kurdistan region have called on authorities to conduct an investigation into the escape of an Iraqi pilot, who has been found guilty of charges related to the chemical bombarding of Halabja, from a prison in Sulaimaniya city. “Today, we held a conference at Horman Hotel, Arbil city, with the participation of 28 Kurdistan-based feminist organizations and unions and we decided to set up a committee to follow up on the investigation into the escape of Tareq Ramadan, an Iraqi pilot, from Sulaimaniya prison,” rhe secretary general of the Muslim Sisters Organization, Sabeeha Mohammed Saleh, told IraqiNews.com news agency. The pilot has been convicted of taking part in the chemical bombarding of Halabja city in 1988. He broke out of prison in December 2008. SS (P)/SR 1
