Kirkuk ( The Governor of Kirkuk, Najim al-Din Kareem, met the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative (SGSR) for Iraq, Martin Kobler, and the accompanied delegation in Kirkuk on Tuesday.

A statement by Kareem’s office received by cited “Kareem appreciated Kobler’s efforts during the last years in Iraq and especially in Kirkuk.”

“He thanked Kobler for his repeated visits to Kirkuk and his attempts to create harmony among the various communities to conduct the local elections in the province,” the statement added.

The statement quoted Kobler as saying to Kareem “I thank you for what you did to us and the people of Kirkuk.”
