Hakim calls to set strategy for eliminating security breaches

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, called to set a security strategy to limit the breaches and punish those behind them.

A statement by the SIIC, to Iraqi News, cited Thursday “Hakim said during the weekly cultural meeting held in his office in Baghdad on last Wednesday demanded the security departments to turn from the defensive attitude into offensive attitude to chase the terrorist groups and control their activities.”

He also called to admit the capacity of the terrorists to choose the time and location for their criminal activities, urging to identify those bad officials who facilitate the actions of the terrorists through their bad performance to replace them and submit for judgment.”

Hakim also demanded to support the intelligence departments which suffer from lack of support and capacities.

During his speech at the meeting, Hakim emphasized the importance of unity among the different sects and ethnicities in Iraq to face the sectarian plans which try to arouse sectarian crises in Iraq, calling to face the terrorism culturally rather than limiting this confrontation by military side.

Concerning the Political reforms Document adopted by the Iraqi National Alliance, Hakim said “This project represents an important chance for the political rivals to adopt openness instead of hiding behind the sectarian statements which revoke the feelings of other sides,” noting that “The political reforms require gradual implementation rather than rising the demands of politicians through classifying the reforms into short term reforms, medium and long term reforms.”

Hakim also criticized targeting the personality of the Great Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) through producing bad and defaming movies or caricatures under the pretext of freedom or expressing opinion since freedom should not target the believes or religion of others, calling the Muslims to have self restrain and express their rejection according to the forgiveness and peaceful attitudes of Islam.

He also denounced aggressive actions represented by targeting or damaging the holy shrines in Egypt, Tunisia, Syria and Libya as well as other Arab Countries, wishing the Arab governments to face these attempts and violations.

Concerning Hakim’s initiative to rehabilitate Maysan Province, head of the SIIC pointed out that “The initiative is not limited by Maysan province only since it will have positive impacts on the whole Iraqi economic scene since there is a large gap between the huge wealth of Maysan and the deteriorated life standards of Maysan residents.”

Hakim warned from attempts to delay or change the date of conducting the provincial elections, expressing his support for keeping the number of Board of Commissioners’ members as nine instead of 15 members which will require spending more salaries and privileges that will exhaust the Iraqi Federal Budget which is against the will of the People and the Religious Authorities.

Hakim also discussed the Syrian Crisis, welcoming the meeting of the Four States of “KSA, Turkey, Iran and Egypt to discuss the Syrian situation and help relief suffering of the Syrian People.

He stressed that “Political and peaceful solutions adopted by the Iraqi initiative are the best to settle the Syrian Crisis,” emphasizing the good relations linking the Iraqi People with the Syrian People in addition to the important regional role of Iraq which are key factors for making Iraq a principle part in any discussion over Syria.

Hakim also urged the Government to increase its efforts to limit the traffic accidents which reached 96,000 injuries during the last 2011 according to official statistics.
