Hakim, Iranian Assisstant FM discuss preparations for Arbaeen Pilgrimage

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, received the Assistant of the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hasan Qashqawi, at his office in Baghdad on Monday.

A statement by the SIIC received by Iraqi News cited “The official briefed Hakim over his meetings with the Iraqi officials,” noting that “A memorandum of understanding was signed to facilitate the entry of the Iranian pilgrims to Iraq to visit the holy shrines.”

“He expected 750.000 Iranian pilgrims to enter Iraq to commemorate Arbaeen Pilgrimage during the next days,” the statement added.

“The two sides discussed the cooperation to increase the business exchange between Iraq and Iran,” the statement continued.

“The official congratulated Hakim on the victories of the Iraqi Security Forces in Jurf al-Sakhar, Beji, Amerli and al-Saadiya areas that were previously controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant terrorists,” the statement concluded. /End/
