Hakim, Shihristani discuss political updates

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, and The Deputy Premier for Energy Affairs, Hussien al-Shihristani, discussed the latest political updates in Iraq and the Region.

A statement by the SIIC received by IraqiNews.com cited “During a press conference held after meeting Shihristani, Hakim confirmed reaching agreement over a number of steps to upgrade the governmental performance.”

“Hakim indicated that the meeting involved discussions over crucial and critical issues concerning the internal and regional affairs,” the statement added.

“The meeting was transparent and frank where the views of the two sides were approximately identical,” the statement continued.

“Hakim expressed his hope for the return of the President, Jalal Talabani, to be fruitful by consolidating political dialogues among the leaders to sustain stability,” the statement assured.

“Shihristani, who visited Hakim accompanied by some members of Mustaqiloun bloc within the Iraqi National Alliance, appreciated Hakim’s frankness and transparency during the meeting,” the statement concluded.
