Hashimi calls to change political regime in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, called to change the political regime in Iraq.

He stated in a press conference in Turkey “The political regime in Iraq needs to be changed to end the political crisis which resulted from the lack or democracy and reformations,” noting that “The situation in Iraq did not witness any change since 2003.”

“The regime which is based on the confessionalism and sectarianism should be changed because the current situation will not be improved unless the regime is changed,” he stressed.

“All services which are related to the social stability are not available despite the huge money spent on these fields,” he mentioned.

“The poverty level climbed further from 17% up to 30% due to the policies of the government,” he assured, noting that “The US stated that it left a modern State in Iraq after its withdrawal yet in reality there is not modern State in Iraq.”

Hashimi’s trial is considered as the first of its type for a key official since 2003.

Earlier, the Central Criminal Court started the trial of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, while dozens of the victims’ families arrived at the court.

The Supreme Judicial Council announced “Postponing the trail of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, for two times.”

Hashimi who is currently in Turkey is supposed to be sued on last Thursday in absentia for three crimes. Hashimi’s case is one of the pending issues among the political blocs especially between the State of Law Coalition and the Iraqiya Slate.
