Hashimi meets seceding Syrian Ambassador in Doha

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The judicially wanted Iraqi Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi said he had met in Doha, capital of Qatar, the Syrian former ambassador to Baghdad, Nawaf al-Faris who seceded from his government.

Hashimi mentioned in a statement that he is currently on a private visit to Qatar, where he met with the seceding Syrian Ambassador Nawaf al-Faris and “congratulated him for his safety and blessed the courageous step to secede from the Syrian regime and wished him a better future.”

The statement confirmed “Hashimi discussed with dissident Ambassador the accusations which have already been addressed to the Syrian regime related to its connections with crimes of killing Iraqis,” repeating his accusations for the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki that he was “aware of all the details but he did not take an initiative to stop them which he has been able to if he wanted that.”

The statement assured that “Hashimi received additional important information, he will reveal it after being examined and will declare in public in front of the Iraqis, Arab and international sides as soon as possible.”
