Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Central Criminal Court will resume the trial of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, next Thursday.

A source from the court stated to IraqiNews.com “The trial will be held on next Thursday morning without postponement despite the request submitted by Hashimi’s defense to postpone it.”

“The court will listen to the witnesses and complainants concerning three cases against Hashimi and his guards,” the source added.

The source did not confirm whether Hashimi’s defense team will attend the trial or not, saying “This matter is left for them because the court will continue its sessions regardless who will attend the trial.”

Hashimi’s trial is considered as the first of its type for a key official since 2003.

Earlier, the Central Criminal Court started the trial of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, while dozens of the victims’ families arrived at the court.

The Supreme Judicial Council announced “Postponing the trail of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, for two times.”

Hashimi who is currently in Turkey is supposed to be sued on last Thursday in absentia for three crimes.

Hashimi’s case is one of the pending issues among the political blocs especially between the State of Law Coalition and the Iraqiya Slate.

The INTERPOL issued an arrest warrant against Hashimi for being suspected in conducting terrorist crimes against civilians and officials in Iraq.
