IHEC determined to conduct Anbar, Nineveh local elections on scheduled date

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Independent High Electoral Commission stressed that “18/ May is a date for conducting Anbar and Nineveh provincial elections, noting “any postponement would negatively affect the Commission’s arrangements.”

A statement by the IHEC reported on Tuesday “THE Council of Ministers hosted, during Tuesday session, the head of the Commissioners Board and the chief of the Electoral Office where the Cabinet discussed with them the issue of Anbar and Nineveh elections. The IHEC insisted on conducting the local elections of these two provinces on the scheduled date that is on 18th of next May.”

“Changing this date will affect the preparations of the Commission which in return will affect the performance of the electoral process in general,” the Commission pointed out according to the statement.
