(BasNews) The Kurdistan Region’s Independent High Electoral and Referendum Commission (IHERC) said it is ready to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on time.

In November this year the current term of the Kurdistan Region Parliament will be over, which means the elections for new parliament are expected to be held at the same time.

On Monday, Jutiyar Adil, a member of the IHERC who spoke to Kurdistan24 said that the electoral commission has already made its preparations for the elections but is waiting for the Kurdistan Region President’s final decision. He explained that two months ahead of the elections, the president should instruct the IHERC to hold elections, in accordance with the Kurdistan Presidency law.

Adil further added that the IHERC is currently working on finalizing the list of the voters for the presidential and parliamentary elections and the independence referendum, and will soon provide necessary and developed technology for both processes. According to him, the IHERC official, efforts have been made to hold the independence referendum alongside with the parliamentary and presidential elections in November.
