INA head al-Jaafari, U.S. State Department delegation discuss need to form national government

llBaghdad (IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, the Chairman of the National Alliance, Ibrahim al-Jaafari and a delegation from the U.S. State Department agreed on the importance of speeding up the agreement on the three presidencies and the formation of a national Iraqi government to extend its security and stability in the country, while stressing the need not to delay in the birth of the new government.

Jaafari’s office said, in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, that “the President of the Iraqi National Alliance, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, received in his office in Baghdad the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of American, Bright Mkourk and the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad, Stephen Beecroft. The two sides discussed the current situation in Iraq to form the next government.”

The office added that “the two sides stressed the need to speed up agreement on the three presidencies in accordance with the political acceptability to form a national government in harmony with each other to achieve the development, the provision of services, establishing security and stability,” adding that “they underlined the need to maintain the timings stipulated by the constitution and not to delay in the birth of the new government, taking into account the interests and the aspirations of Iraqi people.”
