International community should intervene in Kurdistan shelling – deputy speaker

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Parliamentary Deputy Speaker called on the federal government to adopt “strong arrangements to stop Turkish and Iranian bombardment of Kurdistan bordering areas,” calling the international community to intervene to solve this problem.  In a statement issued by his office, copy received by IraqiNews.com, Aref Taifour “severely denounced the Turkish jet fighters for Kurdistan border areas.”   “We express grave concern for these violations and non-respect of international agreements and accords,” the statement added.  It continued to denounce these aggressions as “unacceptable,” which led to greater damages in the area and the immigration of the people.  “Thus, we demand the federal government to take prompt measures and call upon the United Nations, U.S., the Islamic Conference and international community to intervene because the continuation of the shelling will damage the future of the political, diplomatic and economic relations with these countries.”  For the last few weeks, a number of Kurdistan villages in Arbil and Duhuk provinces are under fire under the pretext of chasing PKK member sheltering in the bordering region.  Last week, the Turkish army got 30 casualties that aroused these continued attacks in Kurdistan.  RM (TI)/SR 330
