Iran expresses readiness to mediate to end tensions between Iraq, Turkey

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iran expressed it readiness to mediate to end the tensions between Iraq and Turkey.

The spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahman Burest, confirmed in a press statement “The regional conditions do not endure emergence of new crisis,” noting that “Turkey, similar to Iran, worked for supporting the unity of Iraq and rejected all types of interferences in the Iraqi affairs.”

“Organizing the relations between the two countries according to the international norms will help in sustaining the stability in both countries,” he added.

“Iran, as a neighboring country to Iraq and Turkey, refuse any new crisis between the two countries,” he concluded.

The relations between Iraq and Turkey witnessed tensions recently.

The Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmed Davutoglu, has arrived in Kirkuk after visiting Erbil.

Davutoglu has arrived to Kurdistan Region on last Wednesday where the Premier of Kurdistan Region, Nijirvan Barzani, has received him in Erbil airport.

The Iraqi Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the visit and considered it as a violation for Iraq’s sovereignty.
