Iran wishes Iraq to have vital role in NASM Summit

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Advisor of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ahmed al-Musawi, while meeting, on Monday, the Head of the Iraqi Islamic Supreme Council Ammar al-Hakim, expressed “Iran’s hope to see Iraq plays prominent role in the Summit of the Non-Aligned States that will be held in Tehran.”

Musawi has presented, on last Monday, to Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, an official invitation to attend the summit.

A statement by the IISC cited that “Hakim stressed to the Iranian envoy during the meeting, the desire to consolidate the mutual cooperation between Iran and Iraq.”

The statement quoted Musawi as saying “We discussed with Hakim the updates of the regional and international situation as well as the means to widen the prospects of cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq in tourism fields, extending modern railways in addition to discussing the Summit which to be held in the end of current month.”
