Iraq denies role in US-Syrian mediation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Deputy foreign Minister Labeed Abawi denied press reports that there is an Iraqi mediation to patronize and U.S.-Syrian dialogue during the visit of Syrian foreign minister to Iraq. Abawi told IraqiNews.com that the visit of the Syrian minister Waleed Mu‘alim was “positive” during which bilateral relations were discussed as well as of the region. Syrian foreign minister arrived Tuesday in an official visit to Iraq, which is the third since 2003. The first visit was in November 2006 to resume relations between the two countries and the second was in 2009. RM (TS)/SR 634
