Iraq receives remains of 9 soldiers from Iranian side

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Iraq received on Thursday remains of nine Iraqi soldiers from the Iranian side from the al-Shlamja crossing, head of the human rights office in Basra said. “The hand over ceremony was held this morning (Feb. 4) by the human rights committee and was attended by military and government’s officials and under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC),” Mahdi al-Tamimi told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Six bodies belong to unknown people, while the remaining three are identified,” he explained. Iraq had a fierce war with Iraq from 1980 until 1988, during which one million people were killed and billions of dollars were lost. Basra is 590 km south of Baghdad. SH (P) 1
