Iraqi delegation arrives in Damascus to confer on crisis

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi political delegation has arrived in Damascus on Saturday to confer with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on the Iraqi initiative to settle the Syrian Crisis, the semi-official al-Iraqiya TV Satellite Channel reported. “An Iraqi Political Delegation has arrived in Damascus to meet Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, and to discuss the Iraqi Initiative to settle the Syrian Crisis,” the Channel stressed. Iraqi media sources had reported earlier that the Iraqi Initiative, proposed by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, was based on 5 steps, beginning with a decision by the Arab League to freeze the sanctions imposed on Syria, followed by the the Syrian’s pulling out of the security elements, being part of a security settlement, then the opening of the internal dialogue by Damascus, and then opening of a Syrian-Arab dialogue, under Iraqi auspices, and to end those steps by an general internal Syrian dialogue, under an Arab auspices.
