Iraqi Kurdish MP demands respect of political system

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Legislature, representing north Iraq’s Kurdistan Coalition, has called on his people to “respect the political system,” saying that the election ballots would decide the future of both government and parliament in Kurdistan.   “There are several movements and parties in (Kurdistan) Region, defending all Kurds, including (the opposition) Goran (Change) Movement,” Muhsin al-Saadoun said, calling on “everybody to act within the framework of the political system in the Region, and saying that “the elections ballots, and nothing else, shall decide the fate of Kurdistan ’s government and parliament.”   Noteworthy is that thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of northern Iraq’s Kurdish city of Sulaimaniya on 17/2/2011, demanding the improvement of public services and living conditions, fighting corruption and achieving political reforms, where several people have been killed or injured, in exchange of fire in front of the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).   Meanwhile, at least three headquarters of Goran (Change) Movement were broken through and burnt in the Kurdish cities of Arbil, Dohuk and Soran, causing no human casualties, followed by a call of Kurdistan President, Massoud Barzani, to form a committee to investigate the said events and send those who committed them to justice.   On the other hand, Saadoun said that “the general budget had been ratified in Kurdistan Region, as well as the central government in Baghdad , to be followed by achieving projects in the Region, after the distribution of the budget’s amounts, in such a way that would please the ambitions of the Kurdish people.”   RT / SKH
