Iraqi parl. speaker in Cairo on official visit

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Parliament Speaker Iyad al-Samarraie on Sunday arrived in the Egyptian capital, leading a parliamentary delegation on an official visit during which he is scheduled to meet with senior Egyptian officials, according to an informed source. “This afternoon, Samarraie arrived in the Egyptian capital with a parliamentary delegation on an official visit, the first of its kind since he took up office,” a media source from the Sunni Iraqi Accord Front (IAF) told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Samarraie was received by the Egyptian Parliament Vice Speaker Abdulaziz Mustafa and a number of parliamentarians,” the source noted. Samarraie is scheduled to meet with the Egyptian Parliament Speaker, Ahmed Fathi Sorour; the Arab League secretary general, Amr Moussa; and the Egyptian foreign minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, according to the source.
