Iraqi parliament speaker starts visit to Kuwait, meets Kuwaiti counterpart

Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Halbousi

KUWAIT ( – Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim held official talks on Wednesday with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad al-Halbousi and his accompanying delegation, Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA) reported.

During the meeting, Ghanim congratulated Halbousi on winning the confidence of the Iraqi MPs and expressed his appreciation that Halbousi chose Kuwait as the first country to visit since he assumed his new post.

The two top lawmakers reviewed bilateral relations and means of developing cooperation
between the two countries in all fields, especially in the legislative field.

They also exchanged views on a number of topics and issues of common concern, as
well as developments at the regional and international fields.

After the talks, Ghanim hosted a luncheon in honor of the visiting delegation.

Last night, the Iraqi lawmakers arrived in the country on an official two-day visit.
