Iraqi reconciliation “magic key” to solving Iraq’s problems – Moussa

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa said on Monday that the Iraqi reconciliation is the “magic key” to solving the problems of Iraq, stressing the importance of building the Iraqi society on the basis of reconciliation and solidarity, according to Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA). This came during a meeting with a delegation representing a number of heads of Iraqi newspapers and media bodies, at the end of an advanced training course organized by the Arab League in collaboration with the Arab Journalists Union and the Egyptian Press Syndicate. Moussa explained in this context, that the reconciled Iraqis, would push for an end to the presence of foreign forces and prevent foreign interference in its internal affairs, “whether international, regional or from neighboring countries.” “The League of Arab States stands with all its strength against external interference in Iraqi affairs,” he said, adding that “Iraq cannot be protected from such interventions, except through a strong and coherent unity.” He added that the weakness of the Iraqi society and its division encourage foreign interference. Moussa pointed out that “We are working to bring the views closer between Iraq and neighboring countries. But talking about the issue of Kirkuk as being a major problem, I can say it is already a sensitive issue and can only be resolved by Iraqis themselves.” SH (S)/SR 1
