Iraqi Sadrist demonstration on May 25, popular step to demand U.S. occupation forces to leave Iraq, MP says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Chairman of Political Commission of the Iraqi Shiite Sadrist Trend, Karrar al-Khafaji, has called on young Iraqis to participate in the civil demonstration, scheduled to take place on   Wednesday, May 25, being “a popular step to demand the departure of the American troops from Iraq .”   “We call on the Iraqi youth to participate in the peaceful civil demonstration, called for by our Commander, Muqtada al-Sadr, because it shall represent an important popular step to demand the departure of the occupier from Iraq ,” Khafaji said in a statement, copy of which was received by IraqiNews.com news agency.   The statement quoted Khafaji as saying that “peaceful demonstration is a healthy state, sharing in the building of a civilized society, rejecting the occupier, all his remnants of corruption, and calling for reforms.”   The Legislature for al-Ahrar (Liberals) bloc, Amir al-Kinany, had stated to IraqiNews.com recently that “the Sadrist demonstration, scheduled to take place on May 25, would be peaceful and licensed by the security authorities, during which slogans would be raised demanding the complete withdrawal of the American forces from Iraq .   SKH (IT)   573
