Iraq’s Al-Daawa Party Spokesman vows not to extend U.S. troops presence in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Leading Member of Iraq’s Al-Daawa Party, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, has vowed on Thursday that his party would not allow the extension of U.S. troops presence in Iraq .   “The Islamic Daawa Party is committed to the current Agreement, signed between Iraq and the U.S. , that won’t allow the extension of the American forces in Iraq (after the end of 2011),” Haidar al-Ibady told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Ibady said that “there exists another phase for cooperation with the Americans in the economic, educational and reconstruction fields, away from the military aspect.”   “The presence of the American forces must be supported by a general Iraqi position, thing that is far away from the political status-quo at the present phase,” Ibady said.   Noteworthy is that the Strategic Agreement, signed between Baghdad and Washington at the end of last year, had reaffirmed the complete withdrawal of the American forces from Iraq by the end of the current year, but the American side prefares to extend the presence of part of its troops after 2011.   On the other hand, the Iraqi political forces have not announced a clear position towards the said issue, thought some politicians say that a number of those forces prefare the presence of part of the American troops, till the completion of the readiness of the Iraqi forces, demanding several years.   SKH (RT)       585 BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Leading Member of Iraq’s Al-Daawa Party, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, has vowed on Thursday that his party would not allow the extension of U.S. troops presence in Iraq . SKH (RT)
