Iraq’s Former PM Jaafari calls on mass media to shoulder responsibility

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s former prime minister and chairman of the National Reform Movement, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, on Tuesday called on the Iraqi mass media to shoulder its responsibility and “rise to the level of its historic mission in different fields of confrontation.” “We are presently passing through the phase of the establishment of the State, and members of the mass media must play their active role in laying down the platform of our civilization and drawing the future plan, through understanding the main objectives and the challenges we are facing,” Jaafari said in an interview with Bilady (my homeland) TV Channel. Jaafari also reiterated the necessity to “solidify Iraq‘s national concepts, in order to raise the country to the level of the advanced states, away from distorting facts, saying, “we must not lock ourselves within our sectarian trends, instead of our openness towards other trends.” SKH (P)/SR 1
