Iraq’s Kurdistan President, Premier, discuss necessity to overcome differences, with al-Iraqiya Leader, Iyad Allawi

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The President of north Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani and the Region’s Premier, Barham Saleh, have discussed in Arbil on Wednesday, with the Leader of al-Iraqiya Coalition, Iyad Allawi, the recent developments on the Iraqi arena in different fields and necessity to overcome differences, according to the Region’s official site on Wednesday.   The site reported that Barzani had received Allawi on Tuesday, with whom he exchanged views about the recent developments on the Iraqi arena in different aspects, as well as “the confirmation on the unification of efforts to achieve the unity of ranks among different political parties and the implementation of the political agreements among them.”   “Both sides also discussed the efforts to assign the security cabinet posts and the formation of the High Council for Strategic Policies (HCSP) on a comprising basis, in order to help the government achieve public services, security and stability in the country,” the site added.   It said that “in this respect, Allawi had confirmed necessity to continue President Barzani’s role to bring closer the viewpoints among the political forces, in order to protect the achievements of the political process and the principles, upon which the government of national-partnership was based.”   On the other hand, the Kurdistan Region’s Premier, Barham Saleh, had received Iyad Allawi at the office of the Council of Ministers in Arbil, in a meeting, attended by the former U.S. Ambassador to Baghdad, Zalmay Khalilzad, that discussed the exchange of viewpoints about the current political and security circumstances, along with means to treat the problems and obstacles, facing the political process nowadays.   “Both sides have discussed necessity to overcome all differences and problems, in peaceful means, within the framework of protecting the main interests of the people of Iraq ,” both sides confirmed.   Both sides, the report added have also discussed “the mechanism for filling the cabinet’s security posts, in order to help them become a factor to achieve security and stability in all Iraqi areas, along with the liquidation of terrorist threats against the lives of citizens.”   SKH (FT)   520
