Iraq’s National Coalition has not decided to nominate Riyadh Gharib for National Security Minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature of the National Coalition, Ali al-Allaq, has said on Saturday that his Coalition had not taken a final decision to nominate Riyadh Gharib for the post of National Security Minister.   “Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has nominated Riyadh Gharib for the said post, and though he enjoys support by some of the blocs of the National Coalition, but the Coalition had not taken a final decision in this respect,” Allaq told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Prime Minister Maliki had presented his candidates for the security cabinet posts last week, including Saadoun al-Dulaimy for the Defense Minister’s post, Towfiq al-Yassiry, from the National Alliance, for the Interior Minister’s post and Riyadh Gharib, also from the National Coalition, for the Security Minister’s post.   Al-Iraqiya Coalition’s spokesman, Shakir Kattab, had stated on Friday that his Coalition had rejected the candidates of the Prime Minister for the security cabinet posts, saying that “there is a national consensus on the rejection of the Prime Minister’s candidates for those posts.”   Allaq, on his part, said that “the things are not clear till now; was whether any voting had taken place towards the nomination of Riyadh Gharib for the said cabinet post by the National Coalition.”   Differences have taken place over the past 4 months about the candidates for the security cabinet posts, that are still vacant, especially the Interior and Defense Ministers’ posts, the first being the share of the National Coalition and the second of al-Iraqiya Coalition, with each side rejecting the candidate of the other.   SKH (RT)   .   560 BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Legislature of the National Coalition, Ali al-Allaq, has said on Saturday that his Coalition had not taken a final decision to nominate Riyadh Gharib for the post of National Security Minister. SKH (RT)   .
