Iraq’s National Coalition rejects 9 articles of NCSP’s project

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq ’s National Coalition, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, has rejected some of the articles of the draft-law for the National Council of Strategic Policies (NCSP), a Legislature for al-Iraqiya Coalition, led by Iyad Allawi, said on Thursday.   “The NCSP’s draft-law had faced several objections by the National Coalition, including 9 articles, including one on voting on the assignment of the NCSP’s proposed Chief inside the Parliament,” the Parliament’s Rapporteur and al-Iraqiya Coalition’s Legislature, Mohammed al-Khalidy, told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said that the number of NCSP’s members would be 20, “including the President, his two Vice-Presidents, the Prime Minister and his Deputy Prime- Ministers, the Chairman of the Higher Judicial Council, as well as representatives of the Political Blocs,” adding that the NCSP’s decisions would be “compulsory, in the event of scoring 75% of the Parliament votes.”   Differences have taken place between al-Iraqiya Coalition and the National Coalition about some of the articles of Arbil Agreement, initiated by Kurdistan Region’s President, Massoud Barzani, including the NCSP’s draft-law, along with the mechanism of the assignment of its chairman, his authorities and his designation, whether it would be the NCSP’s Secretary-General or the Chairman of its Chairman.   SKH (IT) 419
