Iraq’s PM calls for activation of cooperation with U.S. after its troops withdrawal from Iraq.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq ’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, in a meeting with a U.S. Congress delegation, has called for the activation of cooperation with the United States , after its troops withdrawal from Iraq , according to a press statement on Sunday.   “Maliki, who received a U.S. Congress delegation, led by former House Speaker and Leader of the Parliament Minority in the Congress, Nancy Pilocy, has confirmed necessity for the activation of cooperation between the United States and Iraq, in different fields,” the statement said, adding that “Maliki had also called for cooperation in all aspects, cited in the Joint Strategic Security Agreement, signed between both countries.”   As regards tp the developments in the Region, the statement quoted Maliki as saying that “all current transformations in the Region, have reiterated the ability of its peoples and their persistence to build their future by themselves, and that the era of dictatorships, coups and the control of power by force, have ended, and the peaceful transformation for power, coming through the voting ballots, shall take place in the Region.”   The Congress Delegation’s Members, on their part, have called for “strengthening relations between Iraq and the United States ,” reiterating the “ability of the Iraqi forces to impose security and confront challenges,” confirming readiness by the Congress to activate cooperation with Iraq in all fields.   SKH (IT)   920
