Iraq’s President meets his Turkish Counterpart in Kuwait

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s President Jalal Talabani, now on an official visit to Kuwait, has conferred in the Kuwaiti capital on Saturday night with his Turkish Counterpart, Abdullah Gul, also on an official visit to Kuwait, an Iraqi Presidency statement reported on Sunday.   “Both sides have discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and means for their expansion, in such a way that boosts joint cooperation and coordination towards issues of interest for the peoples of both countries and serve the interest of peace, fraternity and development among peoples of the Region in general,” the statement, copy of which dropped in IraqiNews.com news agency said.   Talabani, according to the statement, “has pointed out to the significance of joint action to develop the strategic relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Turkish Republic,” reiterating “the wish of the political leaders in Iraq to march forward towards developing the course of the strong friendship with Turkey, along with explaining the current conditions in Iraq and the latest developments on the political and security arena, reconfirming that Iraq had completed its prepations to host the next Arab Summit in Baghdad.”   The statement quoted Turkish President, Abdullah Gul, as having reiterated that Iraq and Turkey are two large and important countries in the Region, confirming necessity to develop joint action between both sides in a number of joint issues, adding that the Turkish President renewed an invitation for President Talabani to visit Turkey, in order to further develop the bilateral relations.   SKH / PT   231
