“It’s important to be more active in new Parliament,” former PM says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Chairman of Iraq’s National Reform Movement and former Prime Minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, on Wednesday reiterated “the importance of the active and responsible presence in the new Parliament.” “We stand today on the doors of the new Parliament. It’s not important to have a bigger number, but to have a higher activity, presence and power. This comes through participation and strengthening the Parliament members,” Jaafari said in a speech at the opening of the meeting of the General Committee for the National Alliance. Jaafari also considered “the competition in the elections as having witnessed an honest competition among different election lists,” reaffirming that “the problem is not a problem of quantity, but a problem of quality.” Noteworthy is that the General Commission of Iraq’s National Alliance, had met in Baghdad on Wednesday, at the office of the Chairman of the National Reform Trend, Ibrahim al-Jaafar, with the presence of the Alliance’s Chairman and Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki.
