Jaafary to Beecroft: Elections achieves national victory for Iraqi democratic experiment

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Iraqi National Alliance, Ibrahim al-Jaafary, discussed with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Beecroft, the political updates in Iraq and the Provincial Councils elections.

A statement by Jaafary’s office received by IraqiNews.com on Monday cited “Jaafary received Beecroft at his office where he assured that the elections achieved a national victory for the democratic experiment in Iraq.”

“Jaafary assured that the real victory is not by the increase of the seat or the number of the votes, but by the success of the elections and supporting the democratic process in addition to providing the services to the citizens,” the statement added, noting that “Jaafary stressed the necessity of providing the good atmosphere for holding the elections in Anbar and Nineveh provinces.”

“For his part, Beecroft congratulated Jaafary and the Iraqi people on holding the elections, appreciating Jaafary’s efforts as the head of INA to bring the various views closer to settle the disputes among the political sides,” the statement concluded.
