Japanese Ambassador meets Maliki

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Japanese Ambassador to Iraq revealed an expected visit for the Japanese foreign and finance ministers to Iraq.

A statement issued by the Maliki’s office on Sunday cited that “The Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki received today the Japanese ambassador to Iraq Susumu Hasegawa and confirmed the confidence of the Iraqi people by the Japanese products,” reiterating the call for the Japanese companies to “participate in the process of building, reconstruction and investment in Iraq.”

The statement quoted Maliki as saying during the meeting, “We look forward to developing relations between the two countries and expand cooperation in all areas and increase investment opportunities that the law would promote including late payments law draft, provided by the Iraqi government to the parliament.”

For his part, the Japanese ambassador expressed his country’s desire to “establish the best relations with Iraq and develop it in all areas,” revealing that “The foreign minister of Japan will visit Baghdad soon to head the Iraqi-Japanese joint meeting, in addition to another visit for the Japanese Finance Minister to Iraq at a later time.”
