Jordanian Consulate-General opened in Arbil

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Jordan’s visiting Prime Minister, Maarouf al-Bukhit, has opened a Jordanian General-Consulate in Arbil, the Capital of northern Iraq’s Kurdistan Region on Monday, with the presence of Kurdistan’s Premier, Barham Saleh.   “Jordan is planning to increase the diplomatic representation in Kurdistan Region and there is an intention to fortify the Jordanian Consulate-General with advisors, trade attaches, journalists and media men,” Bukhit said in a news conference, attended by IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said that his government was also planning to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the government of Kurdistan Region, adding: “our visit to the Region is taking place to strengthen relations, exchange of expertise, along with the signing of MOUs between both sides.”   Kurdistan Region’s Premier, Barham Saleh, on his part has said during a meeting held with the visiting Jordanian Prime Minister that their meeting “had covered joint cooperation in several economic, health and training aspects, as well as making use of the Jordanian expertise and facilitating the entrance of Kurdistan citizens to Jordan, through Kurdistan’s Arbil and Sulaimaniya airports.”   SKH (TI)/SR 276
