Journalistic association condemns attack on journalist

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Association for Defending Journalists’ Rights on Thursday expressed their condemnation of the attack on correspondent for al-Taakhi newspaper, Qahtan Adnan, two days ago by an Iraqi force in central Baghdad . “The attack took place when the journalist was taking photos in Bab al-Muaatham intersection in central Baghdad on traffic jam,” the association said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “An Iraqi force arrested him and took him to an army checkpoint where they tied him up and treated him badly,” it added, noting that they released him after two hours. The association condemned these “unjustified acts” which violate the press freedom and the right to have access to information guaranteed by the Iraqi Constitution. SH (P)/SR 1
