Jubouri calls to demand Iran not to violate Iraq’s share of water resources

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Iraqiya Hurra bloc, Kutaiba al-Jubouri, called “The Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to ask Iran during the Non-Aligned Member States Summit to release Iraq’s share of water resources.”

He said in a statement by the bloc’s Media Office “Iraq’s participation in the conference of the Non-Aligned Movment States held in Tehran should be a good chance to discuss Iraq’s share of waters of rivers flowing from the Iranian territories.”

“The success of this conference is of great importance to Iran as it faces international pressures, hence, we must seize the opportunity to make Iraqi’s participation in this conference depends on the releasing of the water shares of Iraq without any conditions,” Jubouri added.

“It is better to document this issue through conducting legal written undertakings recognized by the international laws to ensure that Iran will not resume blocking Iraqi’s water resources and repeat the problem faced by the farmers in the nearby areas during the dry seasons,” he urged.
