KA calls political blocs to avoid media escalation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Kurdistani Alliance called “The political blocs to avoid media escalation among them.”

A statement by the KA received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “Recently, some sides launched irresponsible statements against Kurdistan Region,” noting that “These statements come in this critical time which requires consolidating the national unity and the genuine partnership among the Iraqi communities especially as we are about to receive such a historical event in Baghdad which is the Arab Summit.”

“Whoever was behind these statements, these statements will serve Iraq’s enemies and harm the democratic experiment in our country,” the statement added.

On the basis of our responsibility, we call all sides to stop launching such statements and to resort to the mutual cooperation on the basis of Erbil Agreement,” the statement concluded.

Recently, the relations between the State of Law Coalition and the Kurdistani Alliance witnessed some tensions as the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, in his speech at the Second National Conference for the Kurdistani Youth held in Erbil on Thursday, said “We will not hand over VP Hashimi because he came to Kurdistan Region to meet with the President Talabani,” calling “to settle his case through the three presidencies.”

For his part, Yasin Majeed, member of the State of Law Coalition criticized Barzani’s statements about not handing over the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he stated “Barzani stated that the Kurdish morals do not allow them to hand over Hashimi. We are wondering about the Kurdish morals when the previous regime in 1996 had captured about 700-900 of the patriotic figures of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Iraqi National Conference.”
