Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and Kurdistani Democratic Party announced their agreement and adherence to their attempts related to withdrawing confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki within the constitutional and democratic procedures and with participation of other parts.

This announcement came at the end of a meeting held by the two major Kurdish Parties on Saturday at Salah-il-Din resort in Erbil province, when the two parties noted that “This decision has been taken to save Iraq from the current political crisis and in order to correct the path of the political process.”

The Kurdistani Alliance’s MP Mahmoud Othman commented after the meeting that “The stance of both KDP and PUK towards withdrawing confidence from Maliki does not include the President Jalal Talabani.”

He stressed that “The stance of the President Talabani is different since he is the President of the Republic of Iraq and the guardian of the constitution so he should be neutral.”
