Kobler calls Kirkuk administration for immediate action to resolve Hawija crisis

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) The UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler called Kirkuk administration to urgently interfere to resolve the current dispute in Hawija.

Kobler stressed in a press conference held at Kirkuk today after he met with Kirkuk Deputy Governor and head of the province’s provincial council “The UN efforts to settle the crisis between the army and Hawija protestors, calling Kirkuk administration for prompt action to resolve the problem.”

Official count by the Ministry of Defense has reported that the security forces killed 20 gunmen and arrested 75 others while 12 military individuals were killed and injured including two officers due to the armed clashes that took place in Hawija district.

The MoD held the organizers of the protests responsibility for sheltering Qaeda elements and Baathists.
