Kurdish mediation to settle differences between State of Law – al-Iraqiya Coalitions

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Leader in north Iraq’s Kurdistan Alliance, Mahmoud Othman, has announced on Sunday the existence of a Kurdish mediation to settle the pending issues between the State of Law and al-Iraqiya Bloc.   “There is a mediation by the President (Jalal Talabani) to contact different political blocs to settle the differences between the State of Law and al-Iraqiya Bloc,” Mahmoud Othman said.   “There are Kurdish efforts to settle the differences between different blocs, especially al-Iraqiya and the State of Law, taking into consideration that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) had been behind the issue, because the Arbil Agreement, had been set up by its efforts,” he said.   The Official Spokesperson for al-Iraqiya, Maysoun al-Damaloujy had stated recently that the Arbil Agreement, based on the initiative of Kurdistan President, Massoud Barzani, “was still ink-on-paper.”   Damaloujy said in a statement, issued by her Bloc, led by Iyad Allawi, that “the principles of national-partnership, agreed upon in Arbil, being part of Massoud Barzani’s initiative, are still ink-on-paper and had not advanced a single step forward since the conclusion of the Agreement before the formation of the government, led by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki.”   Maliki heads the State of Law Alliance.   Othman said that “there is a fog over Arbil Agreements, because none of us know the real text of those agreements.”   “It is necessary for these agreements to be published, because they are not secrets, along with the announcement of what was achieved, and what was not achieved from those agreements,” Othman said.   Kurdistan President, Masoud Barzani, had announced his initiative to settle  the political crisis on 16/9/2010, including the formation of an 8-12 member committee, representing different political blocs, to start talks among them to settle their suspended differences and discuss the issue of the formation of a national-partnership government, along with the settlement of the issue of the Three Presidencies (the President, the Prime Minister and the Parliament Speaker).   SKH (TF)/SR   903
