Kurdistan says ready to host Palestinian refugees

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Kurdistan Regional Government Kurdistan RegionG) on Tuesday expressed its approval of a proposal by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to move Palestinian refugees in Iraq to the northern region. “The Palestinian delegation, led by Mahmoud Abbas, has made a proposal to move Palestinian refugees and displaced persons from all over Iraq to the Kurdistan region,” the region’s deputy premier, Imad Ahmed, told IraqiNews.com news agency. The regional government has welcomed the proposal and vowed to offer all facilities, Ahmed added. On Monday (April 13), Abbas arrived in the capital city of Iraq’s Kurdistan and met with the region’s president and prime minister. On Sunday (April 5), Abbas arrived in Iraq on a one-day official visit- the first by a Palestinian official since 2003, and met with President Jalal al-Talabani, his deputies, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and several other officials.
