Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Mohammed al-Lakash, of the Citizen bloc called the government to “endorse a law draft that follows up the official’s wealth.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The citizens consider the Iraqi officials as rich and never been questioned by the government about their wealth,” pointing out “The official suddenly becomes rich after being a member of parliament or minister and without being investigated over his wealth.”

“The government should investigate the official about the source of his wealth,” he added, noting that “The statements of the parliamentary Integrity Committee did not give clear answers about the money that the officials get.”

“Some funds that belong to officials might have been transferred outside Iraq for investment and some officials are authorizing their relatives to run their business inside or outside Iraq,” he emphasized.

“This situation resulted in two categotries in the Iraqi Community which are very rich and very poor people categories,” MP Lakash concluded.
