Long road to national reconciliation-minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi minister of state for national dialogue, Akram al-Hakim, on Saturday said that there is a long road to travel to establish a genuine national reconciliation in the country. “National reconciliation is a social, political, security, cultural and sometimes an economic issue. Iraq has made much headway towards national reconciliation, but still has a long way to travel,” Hakim said in statements to the Egyptian October Magazine. Last month, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki called on the Iraqi opposition to return to the country and to engage in national reconciliation. Hakim visited the Egyptian capital Cairo this month and discussed bilateral relations with Egyptian officials. SS (P) 1
