Mahdi: Kurds reject Turkmen proposal for forming Kirkuk Operations Command

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Kurds rejected the proposal presented by the Turkmen Front over forming Kirkuk Operations Command to settle the crisis of forming Tigris Operations Command.

The spokesman of the Turkmen Front, Ali Mahdi, mentioned that “The Front presented this proposal as the only way to settle the crisis of Tigris Operations Command.”

“The Kurds rejected forming Kirkuk Operations Command because they think Kirkuk needs not any operations Command,” he added.

The head of the Security Committee within Kirkuk Provincial Council, Ahmed Askari, assured that “The security situation in Kirkuk improved greatly.”

“Kirkuk Brotherhood Slate rejects the Turkmen Proposal,” he mentioned, noting that “The joint forces in Kirkuk are able to protect Kirkuk and sustaining security in the province,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Kurdish sides announced their rejection for the formation of the Tigris Operations Command during their meeting with the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani.

It is worth mentioning that the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, tasked the Commander of Diyala Operations Command, General Abdul Ameer al-Zayadi, to assume the responsibility of three provinces.

Zayadi stated to IraqiNews.com “Maliki, as the General Commander of the Armed Groups ordered to task me to head the Command of Diyala, Salah-il-Din and Kirkuk province under the name of Tigris Operations Command.”

“This order comes to coordinate among the three provinces to sustain security,” he concluded.
