Maliki, Allawi discuss giving Motlak vice-presidency

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A meeting will be held on Saturday between Iraqi Prime Minister-Designate Nouri al-Maliki and al-Iraqiya bloc leader Iyad Allawi to discuss giving the vice-president post to key Iraqiya member Saleh al-Motlak, a parliament source said. “An important meeting will be held today (Dec. 18) at the house of Ibrahim al-Jaafari, the leader of the National Islah (Reform) Movement, to discuss ways to offer the vice-president post to Motalk,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. He did not give further details about the meeting. Earlier on Saturday, a source from the National Alliance bloc said that the Iraqi parliament voted in favor of removing the debaathification measures against Iraqiya members Motlak, Dhafir al-Aani and Jamal al-Karbouli with the exception of Rassem al-Awwadi, who did not give written pledges renouncing the former Baath Party.
