Maliki announces dealing with political leaders to settle disputes between Kurdistan Region, CG

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, announced that he has dealt with the heads of the political blocs to settle the disputes between Kurdistan Region and the Central Government.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com on Sunday cited “Maliki held a meeting on Saturday with the heads of the political blocs where they agreed to settle the disputes either by forming joint checkpoints that comprises Peshmerga elements and federal security elements according to the deals of 2009-2010 or by training some of the citizens of the disputed areas to secure their areas.”

Earlier, an informed source stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Saturday “Maliki invited all the heads of the political blocs to attend a meeting at the Cabinet building to discuss the latest crisis with Kurdistan Region in addition to some other issues,”

The Kurdistani Alliance rejected Maliki’s invitation attributing that to “Maliki’s latest statements where he accused Kurdistan Region of hindering the implantation of the security agreement in the disputed areas.”
