Maliki expresses his support for Ibrahimi’s efforts to solve Syrian crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, warned from the continuity of the fight in Syria calling during his receipt for the UN and Arab Joint Envoy to Syria, al-Akhdar al-Ibrahimi, for “An urgent efforts to save the Syrian people.”

A statement by the Premiership received by IraqiNews.com cited “Maliki received Ibrahimi at his official office in Baghdad on Monday,” noting that “Both sides discussed the Syrian crisis in depth and they reviewed the means of settling this crisis.”

“Maliki expressed his support for Ibrahimi, assuring that the Ibrahimi’s success means a success for Syria and the whole Region,” the statement added.

“Maliki called all the concerned countries to realize the seriousness of the developments in Syria,” the statement continued.

“For his part, Ibrahimi presented a preliminary vision that is compatible with the Iraqi initiative depends on cease-fire and political process that resulted in a solution accepted by the Syrian people.” The statement concluded.

The UN and Arab Joint Envoy to Syria, al-Akhdar al-Ibrahimi, arrived in Baghdad to discuss the Syrian crisis on Monday.

Earlier, Ibrahimi started a regional tour beginning with Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Iran.
