Maliki, Iranian Oil Minister discuss cooperation in oil, gas fields

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, and the Iranian Oil Minister, Rustum Qasimi, discussed the mutual cooperation between the two countries in oil and gas fields.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “Maliki received Qasimi and the accompanying delegation in Baghdad on Saturday and stressed the necessity of consolidating the cooperation between the two countries in oil and gas fields.”

“Maliki emphasized the role of the national companies in the oil industries, expressing his support to them,” the statement added.

“For his part, Qasimi confirmed that he conducted negotiations with the Iraqi oil and electricity Ministers and discussed with them the issue of supplying Iraq with gas and oil products in addition to installing a gas pipeline to transport gas from Iran through Iraq,” the statement concluded.
