Meeting in Erbil precedes Najaf meeting
Erbil (IraqiNews.com) A statement by the presidency of Kurdistan Region cited on Friday that a meeting was held on Saturday morning headed by the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barazani to discuss the participation in the meeting called for by the head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr in Najaf.
The statement added “The head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, the Deputy Primer, Ruz Nouri Shawis, the Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the head of the Secretary Office of the Presidency of Kurdistan Region, Fuad Ma’asoum, have attended the meeting.”
“The attendants discussed the political crisis, assuring that they are adherent to the resolutions of the five-side meeting that was held in Erbil on the 28th of April,” the statement concluded.
The political leaders held a meeting on Saturday in the Sadr’s house to discuss the political crisis after the end of the set time to Maliki to respond to the letter of Erbil meeting.
